Apple Issues Apology Over Controversial iPad Pro Ad Amid Backlash

Apple issued a public apology on Thursday in response to the backlash generated by a controversial iPad Pro advertisement. The ad, which depicted various creative tools being crushed by a hydraulic press into the new tablet, sparked widespread criticism on social media. Tor Myhren, Apple's vice president of marketing communications, acknowledged the misstep, expressing regret for missing the mark with the video and emphasizing the company's intention to inspire and celebrate user creativity.

The commercial, reminiscent of recent viral TikTok trends, drew significant ire from viewers who found the destruction of the creative tools offensive and perceived Apple as out of touch. Some critics suggested that the negative response reflected a decline in customer goodwill towards the tech giant. In response to the backlash, Apple decided against airing the ad on television and will discontinue its use.
